Dr Kellyann Bone Broth

By securing the number one spot as the most popular brand in the U.S., Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth has set the 2024 health goals for you.

Celebrated by her best-selling book, the Bone Broth Diet, Dr. Kelly Bone Broth promises to take you to a comforting sip with a balanced diet. But, does Dr. Kellyann bone broth work?

After going through all the Dr Kellyann Bone Broth reviews, we will be looking for answers to certain important questions through the lens of medical science.

How does it compare to your local grocery store option?

Is there any difference between regular broth and Dr. Kellyann’s Bone Broth?

And most significantly, does it play a huge role in your weight loss journey?

How Does Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth Diet Work?

A bone broth diet is not just a typical form of dieting. It is a warm comforting food that is low in carbohydrates, which is combined with a paleo diet. Five days a week you follow the paleo diet and consume bone broth, two days a week. Selecting the right diet for your health goals is essential, and the bone broth diet, with its unique combination of comfort and nutrition, stands out as it may be a promising choice for many other consumers.

The 21-day bone broth diet was first discovered by Dr. Kellyann Petrucci who has also published a book specifically on the Bone Broth Diet.

For the first days of the week, one consumes a low-carb, Paleolithic diet. Derived from the Greek word “Paleo” meaning “ancient” and “Lithic” meaning “stone”, this diet means consuming typical whole, unprocessed foods that our ancestors consumed back in the day.

Paleo food includes lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. This diet excludes all types of grains, legumes, dairy, processed sugar, and oils that were not part of our ancestor’s diet ever. Our paleo (ancestors) always focused on consuming nutrient-rich food that would support their immune system and provide energy to survive a hunter’s life.

For the next two days, one does a min-fasting, which can also be termed as intermittent fasting as you can still consume bone broth during the daytime.

Bone broth is formed from the animal bone, and cooked over low heat for several hours, typically from 6-8 hours. The bone, connective tissues, and marrows are cooked and release their flavors, nutrients, and all the beneficial compounds in the soup.

The prolonged simmering means having extra collagen, gelatin, amino acids, and minerals that release from the bones and connective tissues. These released components are the ones that provide the broth with a rich, wholesome flavor. The purpose of slow cooking is to maximize flavor and nutrient extraction.

Ingredient analysis of Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth

Available in two different forms, Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth has powdered and liquid ready-to-eat beef broth.

Dr. Kellyann Liquid Bone Broth Ingredients Analysis

Liquid Dr Kellyann Bone Broth Ingredients

These are the ingredients present in Dr. Kellyaan’s Beef bone broth.

Noticing that the liquid version of the bone broth has organic ingredients while the powdered bone broth meals do not claim to be so, here’s the first filter you might want to put on before buying the powdered versions.

Coming on to the list of ingredients, first things first, a single broth contains around 10-12 veggies with one meat’s bones.

Rich in collagen, minerals, and amino acids, beef bone broth works as the groundwork of joint health and overall vitality, giving an Umami flavor to the broth.

Vegetables in the broth- onion, celery, and garlic—contribute not just to the flavor profile but also provide a lot of nutrients. The addition of black pepper brings anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant properties along with enhanced nutrition absorption.

Including organic ingredients in the bone broth cuts down a lot of health risks that come with long-term consumption of non-organic, pesticide-fed veggies.

Dr. Kellyann Powder Bone Broth

Powder Dr Kellyann Bone Broth Ingredients

When it is powdered Dr. Kellyann bone broth, we do not recommend it, especially in the context of Dr. Kellyann reviews. The veggies in the powdered form are not organic and also contain natural flavors.

But, are natural flavors safe? And is it considerable for the Dr. Kellyan Bone Broth reviews? Yes! And no!

Yes, because it is going to be a matter of concern, and while they might be safe, they do not serve any health purpose for your nutritional intake.

Natural flavors in Dr. Kellyan Bone Broth serve to enhance the taste of food and drinks. These flavors are derived from sources like fruits, veggies, or meat. This is a trick that many renowned brands use to attract more customers in the name of serving more “Natural” products that contain no artificial synthetics.

Some studies report that “natural flavor mixtures” might have more than a hundred chemicals, like emulsifiers, preservatives, and flavor enhancers. They could even include solvents. Surprisingly, it turns out that more than 90% of the stuff used to make “natural flavors” is not exactly what the makers say it is.

Unique Selling Points of Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth

  • Dairy Free
  • Gluten-Free
  • Grass Fed
  • Keto Friendly
  • Non-GMO
  • Paleo Friendly
  • Soy Free

When one looks at the list of Ingredients, a statement mentions “Manufactured in a facility that processes milk, soy, egg, wheat, peanuts, and tree nuts”.  The USPs of Dr. Kellyann’s product can be misleading for some who are severely allergic to any of the mentioned products in the above statement.

While the unique selling points (USPs) capture the attention of any buyer, the list of ingredients, often placed inconspicuously at the end in small letters, might go unnoticed

If you are overly sensitive to soy, gluten, dairy, or nuts, even a small chunk of nuts or soy can be life-threatening to you.

One of the reviews from the consumer is as stated: “ I received a bone in my powder of Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth, which was disappointing”. A piece of bone is less likely to cause any harm, but nuts, and dairy for an allergic person can be life-threatening!

So, Yes! The powder form of Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth’s review has stayed negative for us. If you are looking to transition to a natural organic diet, especially with the assistance of reliable natural food that many brands claim, you must check its authenticity.

Any Health Benefits of Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth?

It isn’t just about whether is Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth legit, this can be a list of health benefits of any regular Bone broth, which might also be the one you make at home!

For now, these are the benefits that Dr. Kelly Bone Broth delivers and they are medically sound too.

Benefits of Dr Kellyann Bone Broth

Supports Gut Health

Gelatin is one of the most important proteins in a bone broth. Composed of amino acids, gelatin helps the synthesis of collagen, a key protein in forming the gut lining. Additionally, it helps relax any inflammation in the gut and helps enhance nutrient absorption, ensuring optimal uptake of essential elements for overall well-being.

May support Immune Function

The purpose of amino acids is not limited to providing a healthy gut. But a healthy gut does mean a strong defensive system. If there is any damage to the gut barriers, there may be disrupted immune functions too.

As per a recent study, the amino acid glutamine plays an impressive role in sustaining  intestinal barrier function in critically ill patients.

May Promote Better Sleep

Glycine does more than just provide immunity and gut health. A human body’s sleep pattern is highly regulated by multiple factors that also affect your mental health. One such factor is diet and intake of high glycine-rich foods.

According to research, the intake of protein-rich foods, mainly glycine, which comes mainly from red meat, seeds, and nuts, can support regulating sleep patterns; especially for insomniac patients.

Pros and Cons of Dr. Kellyann’s Bone Broth

Dr Kellyanns Bone Broth

Buying something just because it is in style isn’t good if you aren’t aware of its ingredients. Similarly, to know if it is the right product for you, we recommend going through our list of pros and cons of Dr. Kellyann’s bone broth review article.

Pros:

  • Dr. Kellyann’s liquid broth contains chunks of whole veggies.
  • The liquid bone broth is organic and free from any allergens.
  • The bone broth comes in a variety of flavors, as well as powder and liquid options.
  • Contains ingredients that promote healthy living.

Cons:

  • Highly expensive than store-bought broth.
  • Plastic packages.
  • Shipping is not free with products.
  • Powder bone broths are not organic and are made in similar machinery that may contain common allergens like soy, dairy, and nuts.
  • High levels of lead contents are most commonly found in bone broths.
  • Dr. Kellyan Bone Broth has stayed in controversy for getting sued over lead contamination.
  • No taste difference was noted from the customers when compared with store-bought or homemade bone broth.

Dr. Kellyann Controversy

Dr Kellyanns Bone Broth sued for high levels of lead content

According to a 2020 court settlement between a non-profit organization and Dr. Kellyann in the state of California, a lawsuit was filed by the former party alleging the high levels of lead in the broth.

In the lawsuit, it states, “Dr. Kellyann has knowingly and intentionally exposed many of its customers to lead contamination without providing any type of warning”.

According to the researchers and scientists, the bone broth that is made from chicken skin and cartilage may contain as high as 9.5 micrograms of lead while the chicken bone broth may contain 7.01 micrograms of lead.

It is yet to be disclosed by Dr. Kellyan how much lead can be present in its pre-made bone broth, this can be one of the most significant points for us to consider in Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth reviews.

An adult human should not consume more than 0.5 micrograms of lead in a day, as lead is a highly toxic chemical that is related to many deadly diseases like cancer, and reproductive damage, or a child may be born with birth defects if consumed regularly by a  pregnant lady.

Yet the disclaimer is not seen on the product packaging or on Dr. Kellyann’s website selling the product.

Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth Reviews

Does bone broth promote weight loss? Surely it does. Following the bone broth diet, you will end up with 300-500 calories in a day instead of consuming 2000 calories daily. When you continue to do this for 21 days, you might be able to justify the claim.

However, is Dr. Kellyann’s bone broth legit? While the effectiveness may be a bit questionable, as it does help with weight loss, similar results in weight loss can also be achieved with any other commercially available bone broths. You might not need to spend so much on Dr. Kelly.

Moreover, the lead controversy is one of the deciding factors for us, as something that does more harm than good serves no purpose if it is expensive but serves low-quality ingredients.

Hence, these are our personal reviews. Let’s check whether actual customers love the broth or if it is a one-time purchase for them.

There are 7 packages in the container for 35 dollars, which is a little pricey. The flavor is tolerable, however I would not say it is delicious. It is easy to mix when you add hot water to the powder. This is only my second day of drinking the product, therefore the verdict, for me, is still out as to whether I feel more energetic and if it helps with weight management. If after drinking the other 5 packs and I feel different or notice some changes then I will consider if purchasing it again will be worth it.

By a verified Amazon Customer

I thought it was chicken bone, but preparing the package content to be drank it had an aroma smell like beef. Tasted like burnt beef broth. Not very tasteful. After rereading and thoroughly, chicken bone broth up first. The second ingredient was bovine collagen…..looking up andunderstanding an ingredient of bovine bone…Humm could be any mammal not necessarily beef. Not a good thought in my mind….turned me off. Both taste and thought turned me off! I did get the book and audio, very interesting. Basically reduce carbs….sugar, bread. Excellent writing and presentation.

Conclusion

Scrutinising the Dr Kellyann’s brand we have come to some crucial points to consider. To provide honest Dr Kellyann Bone Broth reviews, it’s a pass from us. Although multiple health benefits come with it, two huge drawbacks can not be ignored.

Firstly, the percentage of lead that might be present in the bone broth is not disclosed, even after a warning sanctioned as per California norms. Secondly, the powder broth has a disclaimer stating that the ingredients might have come in contact with common allergens; hence, looking at the overall setbacks, it is not recommended to consume a Dr. Kellyan Bone broth at such an expensive price.

Whether or not you are willing to opt for Dr Kelly bone broth, make sure to always consult a healthcare professional, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
