Sparkling Ice is a popular beverage brand with zero sugar. It was first introduced in the United States as a substitute for soda and instantly became popular. People consume this beverage because it’s bubbly and tasty, with fruity flavors and zero sugar. But is sparkling ice healthy?

There are many controversies around this beverage, and the question that arises in people’s minds is, “is sparkling ice good for you?” Since it has artificial sugar and added flavors, it’s far from a natural and organic drink, and can be compared with energy drinks like Celsius or Reign.

This may not sit right with a few people, as drinks like these aren’t always healthy. But before making an opinion about anything, let’s get to know this beverage inside and out.

What is Sparkling Ice?

Sparkling Ice is a brand that sells carbonated beverages in many fruity flavors. The thing that attracts most people is that this beverage is formulated with vitamins and antioxidants, which makes it a healthier alternative to soda and cold drinks.

The sweetness in the drink comes from artificial sugar, which is sucralose, maltodextrin, and mannitol, which is 600 times sweeter than natural sugar.

There are two varieties of sparkling ice, the classic sparkling ice is sugar-free, and the sparkling ice + caffeine is formulated with caffeine extracts from coffee beans and green tea.

The brand guarantees that the different flavors of the beverage come from natural fruit concentrate, and they also use vegetable and fruit juices as a natural colorant, which is a healthy approach from a nutritional standpoint.

After many controversies around Sparkling Ice, people found themselves wondering whether sparkling ice water healthy for them or not. Let’s take a look at all the aspects of this beverage to decide is sparkling ice water good for you, or if should you avoid it.

Sparkling water is calorie-free, as it uses artificial sugar called sucralose instead of natural sugar. The beverage is also infused with Electrolytes, which help hydrate and give energy. This beverage also contains added vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which is healthy, and make it the first choice for a lot of people.

Even after all these advantages, you cannot exactly call Sparkling Ice healthy. Although it contains a lot of good ingredients, this beverage should be consumed in moderate quantity, because it will not give you any consistent nutritional benefit.

So, is Sparkling Ice bad for you? Well, if you start to consume it in large quantities or on a daily basis, this carbonated soft drink can lead to a lot of health problems.

Soda can over time cause depletion of phosphorus in the body, which in turn can lead to loss of appetite, anemia, muscle weakness, and bone pain. Also, continuous sugar intake can be bad for your teeth.

You can replace Sparkling Ice water with random soft drinks that are high in calories occasionally, but I would not suggest drinking them on a daily basis as they can cause harm to your body.

What are the Ingredients and Nutritional Value of Sparkling Ice?

Sparkling Ice ingredients

Is ice sparkling water good for you, or is sparkling ice bad for you? These constant contradicting thoughts can drive you crazy. So here I have the main ingredients of sparkling water to make things more clear for you.

The main ingredients of sparkling water are carbonated water, Artificial sugar, added vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, green tea extracts, and fruit juice concentrates. Let’s look at the main ingredients in a bit more detail.

  1. Carbonated water- It is basically water infused with carbon dioxide under pressure. This produces a bubbly drink that is more enjoyable than regular water. But is it harmful? Well, some studies have proven that carbonated water is acidic, but it should not disturb the acid level of your body if you consume the beverage moderately. Also, carbonated water may help relieve constipation in some cases.
  1. Sucralose (Artificial sweetener) – Sucralose is a synthetic organochlorine sweetener (OC), that is a common ingredient in sparkling ice. Sucralose is added as an artificial sweetener to reduce the calorie count in the drink and is FDA-approved for humans. But in a study, it was also found that Sucralose, when heated at 120 °C decomposes into compounds and can be harmful to consumers.

Another study shows that continued use of this artificial sweetener, like in sparkling water, can increase the risk of diabetes, weight gain, and dental problems. It is a well-known fact that there is a link between oral health and mental health, which can negatively affect your daily life.

  1. Green tea extracts – Green tea is very popularly known for its health benefits and the extracts can be concentrated into capsule form. It is one of the best foods for healthy skin. Despite all the health benefits, green tea extracts can be acidic if consumed in excessive amounts.
  1. Caffeine extracts – Caffeine is extracted from coffee beans, cocoa plants, and tea leaves and has excellent health benefits, but only if you consume it in moderation. Caffeine can help promote liver enzymes, help process glucose better, and provide protection against DNA damage.

However, it should be considered that caffeine is a stimulant and should be consumed with caution. However, if sparkling water is consumed in excess, the caffeine in it can cause high blood pressure and an increased heart rate.
