Market voices even claim they last longer, glide on smoothly, and have a natural fragrance.

And, if you’ve caught a Lume commercial, these deodorants are advertised as an ideal solution to odor control that can be used on underarms, feet, and privates.

Even if you read Lume deodorant reviews, you’ll mostly find positive ones.

So, our curiosity got the better of us, and we thought it was high time we did a Lume Deodorant review. We put it to the test, and the results we received are worth sharing.

So, let’s jump right in.

Lume Deodorants: Tracing the Early Footprints and the Journey

Lume has quite an origin story. A doctor developed it during her OB residency.

She noticed many patients complaining about body odor in less conventional places, often leading to misdiagnosis. Recognizing the need for an effective and safe solution for body odor, wherever it might pop up, Lume was born!

Lume’s investor, Shannon Klingman, developed the product, focusing on private areas, after observing inaccuracies in BV diagnoses during her OB/GYN residency.

Lume goes by its motto of being 100% natural with its formulation, which is free from aluminum and baking soda. Rather than inhibiting sweat, it operates in harmony with your body chemistry to counteract the bacterial processes responsible for odors.

It proudly bears the label of being ‘cruelty-free.’ This means that it’s produced without any harm or testing on animals, aligning with ethical and responsible practices in the beauty industry.

According to Lume deodorant reviews and the official website, it doesn’t just mask odor; it stops the odor-causing reaction on your skin. Hence, if you’re caught up in skincare practices for better health, you can also opt for this one.

You can get Lume in two types of containers: stick and tube, but the formula inside is the same. The stick version comes in five scents:

  • Lavender Sage
  • Unscented
  • Jasmine Rose
  • Juniper Berry
  • Silver Spruce.

The tube includes all the same scents except for silver spruce.

How Does Lume Work?

For someone who’s looking to pivot to natural fragrances, Lume seems like an ideal fit; however, most beginners ask: ‘Does the product work, and how does Lume work?’

Well, in this one of the Lume Deodorant reviews, we aim to decode it.

Know that Lume deodorants are free from parabens and have natural elements that include:

  • Aloe Barbadensis
  • Leaf Juice
  • Tapioca Starch
  • Maranta Arundinacea Root Powder (Arrowroot Powder)

One of Lume’s important ingredients is mandelic acid, a well-known beauty ingredient, that fights bacteria. The deodorant acts by blocking the bacterial activity that picks pace when it comes in contact with sweat and causes odor.

Lume works best on clean skin. If you haven’t showered in a while and notice an odor, using Lume won’t provide a 24-hour solution since the odor-causing bacteria is already present.

It’s essential to clarify that this product is not an antiperspirant, meaning it does not aim to prevent sweating or address wetness concerns. Natural deodorants typically do not possess antiperspirant properties.

Some of the points to ponder are as follows:

  1. Pricing: Lume deodorant falls on the higher end compared to other deodorants.
  1. Consistency: Due to its cream-like consistency rather than its solid form, it seems you require only a small amount to cover the intended area for deodorizing. Its spreadability is excellent, requiring only a minimal quantity.
  1. Application: The official website recommends applying a pea-sized portion to each targeted area, translating to a modest amount.

How to Apply Lume?

  • The application involves twisting the product, causing it to emerge through three perforations at the top.
  • In the event of over-twisting, don’t worry, as you can easily retract the excess product back into the container.
  • A meager amount suffices for application. While it can be challenging to gauge precisely a “pea-sized” portion, I barely extend the product beyond the opening.
  • The unscented variant emits a somewhat peculiar odor upon application, quickly dissipating.
  • Furthermore, it is suitable for application on various body areas, although I have primarily used it under my arms.

Reviews of Lume Deodorant: Analyzing its Various Scents

Explore an array of scents in this one of the detailed Lume reviews as we delve deeper to help you pick the perfect fragrance fit today!

Unscented

The unscented variant seems promising for preventing thigh chafing in the upcoming summer. Traditional aluminum-based deodorants stop chafing by eliminating sweat altogether. Some natural deodorants fail to prevent chafing without aluminum, but Lume, with its moisturizing properties and powders, offers reasonable chafing prevention.

Peony Rose

Acquiring the Peony Rose fragrance in a cream dispenser, the expectation was for it to provide what Jasmine Rose lacked, but it proved to be quite similar. Despite rose being a favored scent, this one didn’t quite capture the essence of roses. It had a generic floral scent, not offensive but somewhat disappointing.

Lavender Sage

This fragrance, presented in solid stick form, initially appealed with its herbaceous and floral qualities, highlighting Lume’s use of essential oils. However, over time, the scent lost charm as it interacted with my body chemistry, taking on a less favorable aroma.

Clean Tangerine

Obtained in cream stick form, Clean Tangerine had a subtle initial scent, setting modest expectations. Surprisingly, it won me over as the day progressed; the fragrance, though faint on my skin, developed a pleasing botanical quality.

Does Lume Really Work?

Lume makes tall claims. But the burning question is: does Lume really work?

The answer: YES!

People remain astounded by the efficacy of this product, as you can clearly see it in the reviews of Lume deodorant. Our expectations were modest, much like our experiences with various other deodorants. However, Lume defies all precedent, surpassing any deodorant we have ever encountered, whether natural or otherwise.

The application is straightforward – a simple rub on clean skin, and presto! It grants a full day of protection. Yes, you read that correctly: Lume remains effective throughout the entire day.

One can endure a day filled with heat and perspiration and emerge at the end of it smelling as fresh and clean.

While scented deodorants may have their appeal, you suspect that the fragrances available might trigger my allergies and result in headaches.

Nonetheless, this minor concession is of no consequence to me.

True, Lume carries a higher price tag than its counterparts. However, given the amount required for every application, it promises to last longer. So, one shouldn’t have any qualms about making a quick investment in Lume.

The Verdict: Lume delivers on what it promises by a substantial measure. We liked it and hope your experience will mirror our own.

Lume USPs

Lume is growing by leaps and bounds, pacing up to get a bigger slice of the market.

But how? What makes Lume different?

  • Effective odor prevention properties: Lume lives up to its claims, eliminating body odor when applied post-shower, allowing for odor-free days, and even extending the use of clothing.
  • Versatile forms: Lume offers various application options, including cream, stick, and tube forms, catering to individual preferences.
  • Natural ingredients: Lume contains no aluminum, baking soda, phthalates, sulfates, parabens, or talc. Its fragrances are entirely natural. It’s cruelty-free and safe for sensitive areas, excluding internal use.
  • Chafing prevention: While not as enduring as aluminum antiperspirants, Lume effectively curbs chafing, offering relief on sweltering summer days, which is particularly remarkable for a natural deodorant.
  • Long-lasting benefits: Lume’s efficiency isn’t just about its odor prevention; the product itself lasts a considerable duration. A little goes a long way; making a single purchase provides extended odor control.

Lume Deodorant Side Effects

Every rose has its thorn. And just like that, there are Lume Deodorant reviews that talk about its side effects.

Let’s find them out one by one.

  • Fragrance disappointments: Lume’s fragrances, while generally pleasant, haven’t reached the level of olfactory excellence. Some scents are subtle, others robust, and not all align with expectations. However, a common feature among them is a “baby’s bottom” scent likely originating from the formula itself.
  • Unpleasant formula scent: Lume deodorant negative reviews frequently mention an off-putting odor emanating from Lume deodorant, distinct from the added fragrances. Some liken it to diaper cream or baby powder, while others describe it in less flattering terms. This scent tends to dissipate once applied to the skin, leaving the chosen fragrance.
  • Costly: Lume’s pricing, approximately $15 per stick, surpasses the affordability of typical drugstore deodorants, which typically range from $5 to $8.
  • Cream stick crustiness: The cream stick design presents a minor issue as an excess product can emerge when twisted, resulting in a leftover, dried-out residue that clogs the dispenser holes. Over time, the cream solidifies within the stick. Opting for solid deodorant or the cream version in a squeeze tube may offer better control over dispensing.
